Transcript:

A memorial of deeds of lease and release and release indented bearing date the seventeenth day of March one thousand seven hundred and eighty four and made between

Richard North of New Castle in the county of Westmeath Esqre of the first part

Lucinda Croghan otherwise Goldsbury now of the City of Dublin Widow and acting executrix of her late husband William Croghan late of Grange in the County of Roscommon Esqre deceased who in his lifetime was one of the excrs of Owen Croghan late of Grange aforesd Esqre deced and William Cariline of Sligo in the County of Sligo gent one of the Excrs of the said Owen Croghan of the second part

and the Reverend John Henry Goldsbury of Boyle in the County of  Roscommon clerk & the Rev … Ponsonby Goldsbury of Leney in the county of Westmeath clerk of the third part

which recites that Gustavus Lambart Esqre therein mentioned by deed dated twenty eight July one thousand seven hundred & forty eight demised unto Abraham Sterling of Killbeggan in county … … dealer all that the house and garden on the N North side of the road of Killbeggan then late the property of William Sterling deceased also the field in the Halls farm contg three acres two roods and twenty five perches plantation measure be the same more or less also the field and the pond called the Long Park containing six acres & ten perches plantation measure be the same more or less with one acre & thirty eight perches of reclaimed bogg joining the same All  then late with possession of said William Sterling deceased situate in the Barony of Moycashel and county of Westmeath to hold unto the said Abraham Sterling his heirs and assigns from the first day of May then last past for the lives of  Abraham Sterling John Gibbins and Sterling Gibbins nephews of said Abraham Sterling subject to the yearly rent of six pounds eighteen shillings together with six pence a pound receivers fees

and recites that the said Abraham by an instrument in writing bearing date the fourteenth April one thousand seven hundred and fifty in consid of forty five pounds ten shillings did assign unto Roger North father of the sd Richd North all his right and interest in and to said premes

and recites that by lease and [re]lease dated first and second March one seven hundred and fifty eight Judge Rochfort of Streamstown in the County of Westmeath Esqre demised unto William [North] of Clonfad [probably 3i William North, Richard's uncle] in the said County of Westmeath the town and land of Lisavara containing by estimation seventy two acres be the same more or less situate in the Barony of Moycashel and said County Westmeath to hold unto said William North his heirs and assigns forever at the yearly rent of four pounds sterg

and recites that the said deeds of lease and release were executed by sd Judge Rochfort unto said William North in trust for said Roger North his heirs and assigns

& recites that the said Roger North was dead and had by his will dated twenty fourth February one thousand seven hundred and sixty four devised to his son said Richd North all his estate & interest in and to said several leases of said lands of Lisavara and said premes in and about Killbeggan

& recites that by lease and release dated twenty fifth and twenty sixth March one thousand seven hundred and seventy seven made between Charles North [probably 4c Charles North of Guilford, Richard's brother] therein named and said Richard North party thereto of the one part and Isaac Augustus D Arrepe of Portarlington in Queens county Esqre of the other part by which said release the sd Richard North in consideration of four hundred and thirty three pounds six shillings and eight pence did grant in mortgage to said Isaac Augustus D Arripe the said town and lands of Lisavara and said premes in and about Kilbeggan subject to redemp as therein mentioned

and recites that a marriage was then intended shortly to be had and solemnized between the said Richd North and Lucinda Croghan

and by said indre of release whereof this is a memorial the said Richd North in consideration of the sd intended marriage & of the marriage portion therein mentioned and in order to carry an agreement therein recited into execution & in consideration of  ten shillings did grant bargain sell release assign & transfer and make over unto the said John Henry Goldsbury and Ponsonby Goldsbury their heirs and assigns all his the said Richard Norths right title estate and interest terms for lives and right of renewal of in and to the lands & premes therein and herein before ~ particularly mentioned with the appurces to hold to the said John Henry Goldsbury and Ponsonby Goldsbury their heirs and assigns to such uses and upon such trust and to and upon such intents and purposes as are therein after mentioned expressly and declared of and concerning the same & said deed whereof this is a meml

& recites that the sd Owen Croghan by his will recited that Daniel Kelly of …. In the Conty of Roscommon Esqre stood depted to him in one thousand three hundred pounds carrying interest at the rate of six pounds for every hundred secured by bond and warrant and upon which judgement had been obtained and … …. by sd will directed that said debt of one thousand three hundred pounds should carry interest at the rate of five pounds for every one hundred pounds and thereby bequeathed sd principal sum of one thousand three hundred pounds to Owen Loyd and Arthur Gardiner in trust to permit said William C Croghan to receive the annual interest thereof and said Owen Croghan willed that it might be lawful for said William Croghan to make over the yearly interest of said sum as a provision for any wife he might marry    

And recites that the said William Croghan by deed or writing therein mentioned entered into in consideration of his marriage with said Lucinda pursuant to said will assigned all the annual interest and produce of said one thousand three hundred pounds to be held and enjoyed by her from the death of said William Croghan for the term of her life by  way of a provision or jointure

and by said deed whereby this is a meml the said Lucinda Graham [sic] in consideration of said intended marriage and for the considerations therein mentioned did by the consent of sd Richard North grant bargain sell assign transfer and make over unto the said John Henry Goldsbury & Ponsonby Goldsbury their execrs admors and assigns all the interest profit and produce of the said principal sum of one thousand three hundred pounds mentd in the will of the said Owen Croghan to be secured by the bond and judgment of the said Lucinda’s right therein or thereto subject to the uses and trusts therein after declared concerning the same

which said deed as to the execution thereof by the said Richd North Lucinda Croghan John Henry Goldsbury is witnessed by Patt Corbett George Barnes of the city of Dublin gent

and Execn of this memoral by the said Richd North & witnessed by Patk Corbet and George Barnes

The above named George Barnes of the city of Dublin gent maketh oath that he is a subscribing witness to the deed of release of which the above is a memorial and the above meml and he saw the above named Richd North Lucinda Croghan & John Henry Goldsbury duly sign and execute the said deed of release & also saw the above named Richd North duly sign and execute the above meml

& deposeth that the name Geo Barnes subscribed as a witness to the sd deed and memorial is this depts proper name and handwriting

& dept delivered said deed and meml to Mr William Hall Dep Regr the twenty first day of May 1784 at or near the hour of  twelve o’clock at noon
